Tartan Industrial Contractors Ltd. is actively accepting resumes for the position of Superintendent based in the Fort McMurray/Wood Buffalo Area-camp provided, rotation to be determined.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Understand and adhere to Tartan’s safety management system, policies, procedures and values

  • Supervises and manages all aspects of plant and facility construction and shutdown projects

  • Responsible for coordinating, monitoring and reporting construction progress and activities to ensure the safe and efficient completion of work

  • Assists the Project Manager in the planning, scheduling and controlling of the job

  • Ability to implement and manage a detailed construction plan to provide for the efficient utilization labour, materials and equipment

  • Annual performance reviews on direct reports

  • On a daily basis set work expectations and work performance levels with employees with timely and meaningful feedback and perform program maintenance work that assigned by planning and schedule departments

  • Ensure that business is conducted in an ethical and professional manner with compliance to all relevant government legislation

  • Work with General Manager to promote the company for strategic growth

  • Develop and mentor employees, trainees and trades people

  • Acts as the primary advocate for on-site safety, and continuously monitors the safety program to ensure that corporate standards are met

  •  Team player and committed to safety and quality
  • Dependable and reliable

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision

  • Must be a self-starter with proven ability to make comprehensive decisions

  • Manual dexterity, good vision (glasses are acceptable), eye-hand coordination

  • The ability to concentrate on detailed work

  • The ability to perform lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing of ladders and working on elevated work sites such as scaffolds, towers, and GLG’s

  • Experience in a heavy oil operating environment

  • Motivation to work in a fast paced, deadline  team orientated environment

 

Qualifications

  •  Qualified tradesperson or strong technical background.
  • Excellent leadership skills.

  • CSTS

  • First Aid

  • Valid H2S

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Must provide a good drivers abstract

  • Demonstrated ability in making complex decisions.

  • Exercises good judgment under challenging conditions.

  • Solid understanding of OH&S regulations.

  • 10 – 15 years Pipeline Construction experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Leadership role (Superintendent level)

  • Clearance of a pre-access test
